The Coos Basin is comprised of dynamic rivers, productive agricultural lands and the largest estuary completely in Oregon. The Coos Basin Coho Partnership, composed of local NGOs, state and federal agencies, tribes and industrial partners, came together to develop the Coos Basin Strategic Action Plan (SAP) for Coho Salmon recovery. This plan outlines the long-term strategies that need to be enacted over the next 25 years, in order to sustain this coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) population into the future. With a focus on supporting working agricultural lands, while at the same time increasing and improving ecological conditions for coho salmon, this SAP balances the needs of the local economy and salmon restoration efforts.
